If you are referring to surround sound systems, then there are a couple of key differences between DTS and Pro Logic II.

DTS audio channels are "discrete", meaning that sound within the available channels are independant. For example, if we had a 5.1 surround system in DTS format, each speaker would contain distinct audio files sent to that specific channel.

Pro Logic II (Aswell as DTS Neo:6) are matrixed audio channels. This means that the information in each channel is extraced from the information in other channels. Pro Logic II also provides "Height" channels to the system. The top two speakers are placed above the normal left and right speakers in the 7.1 system. Essentially, the directional sounds (car driving by) would be sent to the regular left and right speakers, where as the non-directional sounds (chearing in a staduim) would be sent to the height channels, giving an overall deeper and larger sound.
